Nobody knew and after a while he was contaminated with the black death as well. Thomas had leprosy for three years before he became a plague doctor. He was 19 when he died in 1351 only about two years before the black Plague was exterminated. He is known as The Plague Doctor due to his outfit.

The substance, when it moves, looks like black veins. When he touches flesh or a wall,floor ect a black substance comes from his hand and moves towards it's Target or across the flesh.
Powers: his body can turn to shadow, when he touches flesh he can give something/someone both the black plage and leprosy.
